Default Stock HU to a Sub

Hey guys,

I'm real sorry if this is posted, but there are thousands of threads and I'm not seeing any good pics of tapping into the wiring behind the stock HU.

Eventually I will replace the stock HU but I don't feel like paying for one yet and don't want to lose my dash controls or need the Modifry DCI.

I have had a JL10" with an xtant amp in my garage for over 2 years. last I heard, it sounded great in my brother-in-law's accord. well he gave it to me and I'm pretty sure it's fine, just hasn't run in a long time. (thoughts on this?)

So, assuming it's working, I want to run a simple amp power line from the batt to the amp, ground it, et al. I've read something about there being rear speaker outputs on our HU (I assume for my non-existent headrest speakers).

If that's true, what should I expect to need to do to get the signal from the HU to the sub? What kind of wires? The xtant amp has line level inputs (I think it has 2 pairs). What kind of adaptering/soldering will I encounter trying to run the signal from the stocker? Is there basically a pair of unused inputs in the harness that I need to wire into? Any advice for my sub-on-the-cheap project would be really helpful. I need bass. bad.

If your going to get an aftermarket radio I would suggest using a line out converter. It can be bought at any best buy or circuit city, etc. It splices into the positive and negative from 2 speakers and converts the high level speaker output into a low level RCA output. This will allow you to run RCA's to the amp which will work better with the aftermarket HU instead of running speaker wire from the HU to the amp (to use the high level inputs on the amp) and then have to remove that and replace it with RCA's to be able to use your sub control on the new HU. It might cost a bit more now but it will save you time later.
