Stock tweeter size?
Okay well im looking to buy some component speakers and couldnt figure out what size the stock tweeters where... id like something that fits right in the stock space so i dont have to cut etc..
Most 6.5" component systems come with a 3/4" or 1" tweeter, which will fit without cutting. They have a "set screw" in the middle of the tweeter with a bracket which mounts to the original location.
The stock tweeter is about 1" diameter.

If you are sticking with the stock radio, you need speakers with a higher than normal sensitivity rating, but I would not recommend doing this. IMO, you would be better off putting OEM speakers back in if you are not replacing the radio. The stock radio does not have enough power to run aftermarket component speakers without an external amplifier.
The after market 6.5 component speakers will sound better than your stock speakers but it won't be any louder than the stock with your stock head unit because the stock head unit doestn't had the power to handle/support the after market component speakers. It might sound good to halfway on the volume but after that it will have the bass distortion which sound like your speakers is busted.
There's a solution where you can keep your stock head unit and run the 6.5 component speakers with an amp. To run amp with your stock head unit you will need the speaker converter(it's an old school that most people used back in the day when they couldn't afford to buy the after market head unit). I don't know about Best buy and Car toys but i think that Radio shack and Frye's still carry them for like $15-$20, and it's pretty easy to install......the wiring basicly almost similar to the X-over.
If your ap2 had rear speakers then you can just get a small amp to pushing your rear speakers and so you only need to convert the wiring for the rear only. As for the front you can just leave it alone. That way you don't have to run any wire from the front to the back. All the wiring will be done from the back. Well, except for the power source for the amp and the wire that will turn the amp on/off.
