For the most part MDF or fiberglass... not much else can take the pressure except metal and plexi-glass

Ok so lets review...
You have a ported MDF box that fits in the tool well. The sub is a soundstream tarantula 12 inch sub.

You say it doesn't sound good enough...

My guess is that the box is your problem. Wrong port size I would bet.

This is the info on your sub:
T4-12
RMS POWER (WATTS) : 900
VOICE COIL DIAMETERS (INCHES) : 3.0
MAGNET WEIGHT (Oz.) : 200
FREQ. RESPONSE (Hz) : 25 - 1.7k
Fs (Hz) : 36.5
Qes: 0.414
Qms: 3.584
Qts: 0.371
Vas (Ft3) : 1.03/29.27 liters
Xmax (INCHES) : 0.63
SPL (dB) : 89
HOLE SIZE (INCHES) : 11.25
RECOMMENDED ENCLOSURE (Ft3) : Ported 2.2
RECOMMENDED ENCLOSURE TYPE : Vented
AEROPORT DEMENSIONS (INCHES): 4 x 7.5(1)

Now you have to tell me how your box was built.
