I have my amp mounted inside the spare. It's tight getting to the bolt but it can be done. I've wedged foam under the tire before tightening down. When it's time to remove it, just yank the foam out and the bolt is already lose. The amp sits in a foam rubber tray to keep it from moving around. I have yet to put a fan in but will be doing that at some point.

Can you snap a photo or describe how you get to the spare? I would love to use this location as well if possible.

I'm sorry I never done this install

I am trying to reach the guy who did but he still has not responded. I have a couple of questions myself.

If you're talking about the sub install, it looks like you would unscrew
the four screws holding the speaker in place, remove the speaker,
reach in to the box, unscrew the spare tire hold down bolt, and slide
out the wheel and box.

I have a (small) amp inside my spare - I'll try to post pix sometime in
the next week.

Thanks oth... I wondering how else you could get that spare out w/o taking that sub out of the enclosure...

I'd love to see your pic of your amp install... I'll definitely be checking this thread periodically. Thanks!

Despite the perceived shortcomings this is still a pretty unique way to mount a subwoofer in the S. And here I thought every possible method of mounting a subwoofer in the S had been thought of already...
