Subwoofer Wiring
So I currently had my setup hooked up like this:

But now, I've decided to run a 2 channel mono amp (Treo SSX750.1). I'd like to not change the subwoofer wiring if possible since I live in an apartment without power tools. Will it be ok to keep the wiring as is?
According to crutchfield, if I wanted to run a dual 4ohm sub with a 2 channel amp I should hook the wires up like this:

What if I wanted to bridge the amp and run the current wiring I have? What are the downsides to this methods?
Will I be ok just running the sub with the current wiring on one channel of the amp?
What if I wanted to bridge the amp and run the current wiring I have? What are the downsides to this methods? I'm sure there's a reason for the different types of wiring, but I just don't know where to start with learning it all.

It depends on what model amp you have.
If it's capable of operating at a 2ohm load in bridged mode, then you don't have to change your subwoofer wiring. If it's not capable (4ohm bridged), you'll have to rewire your subwoofer.

Not too much information on this amp online. Did find the following posting:

If this looks like your amp then you should be fine with your current wiring setup...no need to change if your sub is dual 4 ohm.
Looks like this amp is a "mono" amp....ei...SSX750.1 meaning 1 channel. You're getting confused with the speaker wiring block as shown in the pic. Those connections are for convenience only. Internal to the amp they are connected together. Positive to positive and negative to negative. Your amp only has 1 channel and it looks like it's rated for 750 watts into 2 ohms according to posting...not sure of accuracy though...your amp will run down to a 1/2 ohm load and put out a bunch of power!!!
Don't worry about that though since you have 4 ohm DVC sub. Your only options for wiring are as the Crutchfield pic states, 2 ohm in parallel or 8 ohm in series.
See ya...
