Since Alpine is no longer making the XM tuners, will XM still support older setups? GM isn't going to be complete Nazis about it, are they?

GM will still support current product (why not we are paying them 10 bucks a month for it!! ) They will be pushing the Delphi product onto the consumer. Seems fair since Delphi is Gm

My guess is, and this is just a guess. They raised the licenseing fees so outrageously and most manufactures said no way

Thats pretty cool. I hate the "XM Ready" bs

and any alpine with I think it's called the ai-net input can be hooked up to the mp3 cd-changer for mp3 capability including track titles and everything. And someone on the board has a alpine mp3 cd changer installed in their secret compartment. It looks like a really good fit.

All my music is in AAC format on my iPod.

Now the Alpine iPod Interface,

I don't have a real use for a CD changer. I may get one, but if I could have my iPod with me, I really wouldn't have a reason to take CDs with me.

And XM appeals to me because I listen to a wide variety of music, and would like to stay current on new music. My radio station I listen to now is so crappy because I live like 200 miles away from Detroit, where's it's based out of.

not distance for me... mine is crappy due to the constant need to either play 80's hair band tunes or rehash the same 'modern rock hits' over and over and over....

i've been wanting XM for myself, but have been holding back till after the wife goes back to work... now, it looks like a tuner purchase will almost be mandated asap... either that, or wait for the used ones to pop up...

i'm still curious as to what XMDirect is and how it will interface w/ current Alpines.
if i'm going to get XM, i want the full display info on my deck, not on an outboard display i've got to muck up my cabin with... so, whatever it is - it has to be 100% compatible for me to go w/ it.

and Mike -- your theory sounds just about par for the course...
