Default switched radio lead & 9815 (again)

someone loaned me a pansonic amped 6 inch sub for a trip I am making as I do not have time to install booms recommedation

Can I share the switched radio lead (red wire) between the 9815 and the amped sub. I was told there is little current on this and it would be fine for this app but wanted to make sure.

Technically, if you're just using this as a switch to turn the amp/sub on or off, you should use the blue remote wire. If this is the only power source for the amp, you definitely need to run a heavier wire directly from the battery to the amp...

Let me expound the oem radio has a reg switched (meaning by me to be the lead that comes on with the ignition) and then the always hot lead. So I want the powered sub to be off but ready like the oem radio always is. Both the oem radio and this pwered sub have positive coming in directly from the battery.

So my question is can both the new Alpine unit and powered sub share the ignition lead coming in - I was told by Crutchfield that this wire has little draw on it so yes they can share it but I wanted you smarter people to opine.

Thanks

Yes, you can use that if it is only going to be used as an on-off switch for the amplifier. However, if you're using it to actually power the amplifier, you'll blow a fuse in a hurry!

its, as well as the alpine get their real power from the thick gauge wire coming right off the battery

my concern was that sharing the headunits ignition switch lead was detrmental to the head unit (i have been trouble shooting a brand new unit cutting off and on and was trying to confirm that it (sharing this lead) would not damage the head unit in any way

I hope your question has been answered. My biggest suggestion to you today would probably be to proofread your posts so that they make sense... I'm a little confused by your choppy wording. It's hard for someone to help you out if you don't provide all the necessary information in a clear, concise manner.

No hard feelings... I'm just trying to give you a kind suggestion!

Good luck!
