i don't think a capacitor is necessarily needed, but that's a hot topic and something you'll have to decide for yourself. frankly, for all they do, i'm not sure they aren't just a gimmick. still - i probably should try one out for myself at some point... *shrug* you got one you'll give/loan me?

I agree capaciters are a hot topic when you are talking to a salesman who gets paid by commission. First question they will ask you is "Do you want you headlights and dash lights not to dim when the bass hits, than I have something for you" This a problem with alternator not keping up with amperage demand of the car. A capaciter doesn't solve this problem what it does is charges and discharges faster than a battery so when the bass hits fast and hard it's there to supply the voltage quickly giving better bass response. It also cleans the power signal by blocking the passage of AC voltage which rides on the DC voltage, this is also known as alternator whine which also because by RCA's not being ran right or bad equipment
but it helps block it out.
