Default System suggestions

I'm getting ready to install my stereo system in my s2000 and I can't make up my mind on what to run on my rear channels. Here's what I have:

Head Unit: Alpine CDA-7863 60wx4 (27wx4 rms)
Front Channels: Boston Acoustics RX67's (6.5" coaxial)

I don't plan on adding an amp so I'm going to use the head unit to power all my speakers. I can't decide whether I want to run a pair of bass shakers or if I want to run Lucid's rear speakers off the rear channel of the head unit. I have the bass shakers installed now running off the stock head unit and even though they are grossly underpowered the effect is great. So what would you do....shakers or rear speakers?

I'm running my shakers (bolted to the seat bottoms) off 2 channels of a Soundstream Reference 604, probably getting around 60 or 70W RMS each. The effect is huge, and while a sub would be better, I would never trade the weight and space for what little gains a real sub would offer. The shakers are pretty ubelievable.

I say keep the shakers and get an amp!

I feel a good inexpensive solution would be going with the rear 4's, and adding a bazooka tube. It would be fairly cheap and would cover all of your bases.

Honestly, the whole reason that the 4" speaker panels came to be is that I tried the Aura Basss shakers and didn't care for them. They were run off the rear lines of my head unit getting 22 RMS.

Using an amp to power 4 speakers would be a better option than a sub in the trunk.

Anyone want my bass shakers?

Hmmmmm....thanks for the input guys. I think what I'll do is audition the bass shakers and if I'm not pleased with the results I'll dump em and get the rear speakers or I'll run an amp for the front and rear speakers and power the shakers with the headunit. I have the cheaper bass shakers that take 25w rms MAX so the headunit will put out the optimal power for them.

Well I installed my system this weekend and used the rear speaker outputs to power the bass shakers and man it sounds great! I will eventually add rear speakers and an amp but for now I'm pretty happy with the overall sound of the system.
