Rear Speaker and General Upgrade Questions for Lucid and all
Hi Lucid
Well, you've inspired me to upgrade my sound system. I have the stock head unit, a 325 watt MTX two channel amp and Polk DX3065 door speakers and separate tweeters.
I want to at least install a set of 4" speakers and another set of tweeters behind the seats. I just auditioned 4" at Circuit City and like the Infinities.
I also want to keep my dash controls. I hope you can help me with my questions-
1. Can I use the stock head unit with the rear speakers? I suppose I'll have to get another amp to drive them anyway.
2. I'm also thinking of having an enclosure built for a sub in the trunk, and can drive the sub off the second amp as well.
3. If I have to get another head unit (I'm looking at some Alpine unit) how can I modify the PAC unit to save all my dash controls.
Thanks for the inspiration, sorry for all the questions.

Keeping your stock head for dash controls isn't a very good reason against upgrading the head unit. PAC units work fine. If you want to do it yourself, the instructions in the PAC unit tell you what you need to do, if you need help you can ask Pinky or MacGyver. I strongly suggest a CD/Mp3 player. You'll never know how you got along without it.
Rear speakers will work from the stock unit, but you have to tap them.
Don't bother paying big bucks for a custom encloser for a sub. get this:

The Q-logic box is awesome, it doesn't move and doesn't need any harness. Even going through the twisties it stays in place. The box runs like 50-60 bux. You can add any 10" driver you want. But the great thing is, You can take out the box anytime you need extra room.
