Default Theft Prevention with AEM EMS

Hello All,

I recently had my car tuned with a series 2 AEM EMS and understand it eliminates the immobilizer feature contained in the OEM EMS.

I am looking for any tips from owners with a similar set up as to how to prevent vehicle theft, as I know the S2000 is stolen often enough even stock.

Is there an easy way to disable the vehicle such as pulling a certain fuse so it can't start (cheap solution)? Any aftermarket systems which are truly effective? Or is something like LoJack the only option?

Any input will be greatly appreciated. I've invested so much time, effort, and money in my car would hate to have it disappear.

Thanks,

Joe

per the Helms manual, in the under-dash fuse box:
#2 - fuel pump
#4 - ignition coils
The car isn't driving anywhere with either of these fuses missing, but it would
be a PITA to frequently pull/replace them, and you're probably inviting problems
if the contacts start to wear.
It would be easy enough to add a hidden kill switch for any of these circuits -
google "ignition kill switch" for more info

Thank you. I will definitely look into that. I remember my father had one on his old 61 Lincoln Continental. Didn't think of it...

garage to park in at night, noisy alarm and good insurance with parts rider.

kill switches will help slow them down, but if a thief wants your car, hes getting it. even if he doesnt take the car, he can steal the headlights, tail lights, radio, seats, etc and your car may still be totaled out with those parts missing.

the s2k is one of the easiest cars to get into, and easiest to steal. even people with the stock ecu have there car stolen. heres how. thief breaks into the car by tearing the vert top. <<if you have hard top he wants your car even more, cause now theres a hard top to sell and he will just break the window>. he gets into the car and removes your stock ecu out and puts a jdm ecu in. then he hot wires the car and drives away with it. my buddies car had aem ems in it, thieves broke into it and removed the panels to get to the ecu, when they saw there was aem ems in it, they just hot wired, but they were goign to swap the stocker for a jdm one. basically, they saved one step. its sad, so sad.

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately I only have a car port at my building... Sometimes I can squeeze my G37 in front of my S2000 as a "steel shield", but a lot of the time it's just sitting there (with a car cover over it which I'd assume brings more attention).

I'm looking into some sort of kill switch/immobilizer and alarm combo. I think that's all I can do at this point. Thanks for the tip on the insurance, I'll check with progressive about covering my aftermarket parts.

Wanted to give everyone an update. I went ahead and added a hidden starter kill switch to prevent vehicle theft. This was my main priority, it's inexpensive, and with little to no complications.

If my seats, radio, or other components get stolen it would just mean Progressive is buying me Recaros so no problem.

I also added the biggest parts rider my insurance policy would allow as an extra cushion.

I had a local gentlemen named Art help me with the instal. He's great to work with and knowledgeable.

Can you provide a link as to what place you purchased the kill switch?

I may be looking into something like this, even though the worst thing that's happened was someone took my side markers :/
