Are there any security systems that will go off if someone reaches inside?

Hey, I was just wondering if there are any security systems that will go off if someone reaches into the car when the top is down? Something like lasers or other types of sensors? Thanks

Yes, Many systems have this as an option. Its called a proximity sensor (well thats what Alpine calls it) I have it, it works fairly well, problem is they are very temperamental with the weather.

Wlaurent and I installed a model that gives you a dual proximity sensor and allows you to retain the factory remotes. Wlaurent is selling them now. PM him for more info.

Most of the better models (and even quite a few cheap models) support proximity sensors. Try to get a dual-zone one, if possible...it will chirp the alarm if they get too close as a warning, then set the alarm off if they actually reach inside.

Yah I've heard a lot of people having probs with the proximity sensors going off when it rains and what not. Will the dual zone ones be less sensitive to this? Cuz if it goes off everytime it rains, that would be annoying.

If only semi-properly adjusted, the dual zone will most likely chirp often during a heavy rain, but the full alarm won't go off.

i recommend the clifford concept 600
-get the smart siren 4 chip (if they cut the wire, alarm still goes off)
-don't install the auto headlight vision (because of the HIDS)

I've got the Alpine SEC-150R and it works well. It's got a proximity sensor and the sensitivity is adjustable using the remote. I've had it six months with no major problems. The alarm works fine but sometimes the door lock/unlock feature doesn't work. I also had it programmed to open the trunk.
