Is there a How to section dedicated to electronics. I am planning on doing an install
I'm going to help answer these questions you asked me here to help others that might be thinking/wondering the same things.
1) I have a 10" RFP4210 DVC 4ohm sub. The minimum airspace requirement is about .38 and the maximum is 1.45ft. I built the first of the three boxs listed on the Audio FAQ. The box with all right angles. Anyways, I have .77 ft of airspace.
Do you think that I am sitting right where I want to be? I don't like rumbly base.
That # should be good. You can put some polyfill into the box to make it seem bigger if you need to. Polyfill slows down the soundwaves thereby making the box seem bigger
as long as you leave room for the air to move, don't pack it to tight, otherwise you'll make the box seem smaller.
2) I have two amps that I have bought that i am not sure which one I am going to use. Both are two ohm stable in mono. The first is a PG Ti500.4 75x4 (HP/LP)
And the Xtant X403 50x2 + 200x1. One thing I like about the Xtant is it is very efficient and is rated at 11volts. The sound to noise ratio is 110 for the PG and 100 for the Xtant. The amps will be driving a single RF10" possibly to be upgraded to a 12" Perfect VQ. The components it will be driving our the Perfects The HU I'm running is the Rockford Fosgate PLAT2000Ti
I'm not real familiar with the PG amps but the Xtant's are very nice and upgradable... I like upgradable. As for the RF HU if you like it then roll with it. My friend had one in his trunk, it was ok, I wouldn't by it but if you like it its you car bro
3) I will of course be running ultra high end wires/RCA's and have a 1.2 Farad Cap. Oops let's not forget the cascade dampening of the trunk and doors.
A good set of wires goes a long way. You may or may not need the CAP at this point but since you have it already you might as well install it. Yes I'm a firm believer of sound dampening/deadening. I use Dynamat X. The stuff works great.
