Default thinking of a very basic set up-feedback please

I want to upgrade the sound sytem in my ap1. I really want to keep it basic and i don't want to break the bank, but i still want great SQ. Weight is a factor as well so keep that in mind. Here is what i was thinking:

HU i researched a few decks and i have always been more parshal to the quality and sound of eclipse. So i choose the 5030 Seems to have some great features and as far as head units go it not that $$$.

For my door componets a listened to A few RF speakers, and Eclipse. Once again i was sold on the eclipse SC6500. The sound was strong and clean but not overly bright or harsh. they are 6 1/2 so the gave a nice mid range punch and even seemed to handle the lows better than i expected.

SW - Im not planing on running one but if i decide later on that i want some bass i am only going to 8" nothing more.

Amp Ok so i want to save as much weight and space as possible so for this reason i was considering using the alpine Power pack KTP -445. I know its for use with alpine head units, but my installer said he could make it work. Anyone have any experice with this product, hows the SQ? If im not planing on running a sub im thinking this may work out well. Otherwise, and i know it is a step up, i am going to pick the eclipse EA4200 Amp. I have heard this amp in combination with the HU and the door speakers and i was thoroughly impressed. Which one do you think would work better for what my goals are?

Its been a while since i have shopped for an audio system, so any feedback would be appreciated.
thanks

Use the KTP, your going to need a sub, don't be hunting for a speaker because it has good midrange because that's not going to mean anything when you have the windows down :-)

the one thing I'll point out is that per these specs, those Eclipse speakers are not very
efficient at 84dB. Compared with one with a 90dB sensitivity they will require 4x the
power, or 8x that of a 93dB speaker, so you may want a more powerful amp to drive
them.

While efficiency isn't everything when it comes to speaker shopping, I agree that you'll want something with more power (and, ya know, is actually an amp).

If SQ is really your goal, you'll need a quality AB amp. I personally like Sundown because they're a great deal - the SQ is absolutely phenomenal (the owner is a hardcore audiophile) and it's hard to beat the price for the power/SQ.

I also wouldn't limit yourself to an 8" sub. With a quality pair of door speakers, the 8" isn't going to cover the low frequencies as well as you need/want for true SQ. A 10 is absolute minimum for a sub, with a 12 being the recommended route. There are a number of slim-line subs on the market that require less room than an 8 - so don't let that deter you. Either way, you will definitely want a sub (don't believe me, send a PM to Devs2K)

weight is an issue? come on you have over 400 hp. Scott was trying to get rid of his complete set up that he got years ago and never installed... ask him about it.

I was wondering if the Eclipse SC6500 were a drop in to an AP2 S2000? I like Eclipse speakers but am unsure about getting them if I will need to modify the doors.
