Time for me to start modifying the Audio
Hey guy's, I must say this is not the section of forums I visit all to often, You guy's know more about audio stuff then I could ever imagine so I come to you for advice
.
Well I have had my car for a total of about 5 months, and have been modifying it like crazy since day one. I now find that I would love to actually hear some of my favorite tunes when on those long highway drives to meets, and or memphis for the weekend. Here's what I have in mind, you all please let me know what you think of the set up.
I LOVE the new JVC cd/dvd/mp3 player that came out recently (yeah the one with the pointless screen
) I think I am going to go with this as a head unit, unless someone has alot of negativity to share with me about it....I usually only buy alpine, or eclipse head units...but JVC has been around for a long while so I think I may buy a less popular head unit for the first time in my life. ( I also have plans to buy a mastergrade carbon fiber dash mount and instal a 7 inch screen in it)
Now, on to door speakers. I am going to go with a very nice set of components either way, I have had components in all my previous cars and really there is just no comparison in sound quality when compared to regular speakers IMO. I am thinking either set of JL audio components for the door or BOSTON. I think the Bostons sound incredible, and would fit the bill nicely.
I am also thinking of running a rear set of speakers, but i'm not sure If I want components for them unless I go with s-pods, which I am currently undecided on right now.
As for bass, the entire rear trunk is going to be lined with dynomat (Used it before and love it) as for the enclosure, I am thinking of having a fiberglass enclosure made that will fit in the toolwell..I like the one that has step by step construction that you can find in bold at the top of the electronics forum...I will probably go with this as an enclosure, and get the box painted matched to the "custom color" I'll have applied after my ings sides and rear come in. As for a sub...I am thinking of running one 12 inch JL audio w7, with all JL audio amps for power suppy to both the sub and the components. ( a friend also mentioned the new rockford fosgate T2 as an idea )
Guy's this is just a base plan. if you see anything that seems out of place please let me know, my knowledge is much more evident with a socket and wrench in my hand then a sodering iron if you know what I mean.
Thanks in advance guy's
Cody.

Hey-
The JVC is a nice deck. I like the way it sounds....listened to it yesterday. As far as components, I would also look at Focal if you are looking at top-of-the-line stuff.
As far as the sub and box are concerned.....It is RARE for anyone to fit a 12" sub in the tool well, even with a full fiberglass enclosure. The w7 is probably going to be close to impossible because of the volume required. With a full fiberglass enclosure, I think you can get JUST over 1.0CF of volume......I do not think this is close to the volume required by the 12w7. Might be able to work with a 10w6, though. As far as amps, if you are looking at those subs, you probably want a LOT of bass. I would look at their specs, and match the recommended WRMS with an appropriate amp. I like Rockford Fosgatte for sub amps, as well as Kicker (for overall thump). If you are going more for SQ (listen to a lot of bass-guitar driven stuff) I recommend Infinity, Alpine, or Clarion. These are just my opinions, so you should really listen to the speakers and the amps prior to purchase.
Have fun.....it gets addicting!

Hey thanks, Yeah I have spoken to darknight about the fiberglass encolsure I am going to have him make for me...I might have to go with something a little less extream (speaking of the w7)..I'm not looking for incredible bass..I'm looking for sound quality along with bass. I want a perfect sounding system with a good bit of equilization tools too.
