Trying to build a JL system
Dave,
I used to own an Aragon preamp and amp for a two ch system. They are great components. If you are looking at that type of equipment I would also look into Bryston, and Classe.
As for speakers, Paradigm bumps up the base response for the american market. It has a UK mid and tweet but American Base. Nice speakers, but with that type of processor and amp I would look at some higher end speakers like JM Labs (Focal), M&K (theater only, not the best for music), Martin Logan (high price), DynaAudio(best with music), Alon(best with music), and B&W(great for theater and music).
I have owned a ton of audiophile equipment and still have a ton that I will end up selling this year.
Try Audiogon.com for some prices.
Just my .02

Check the sensitivity on each speaker, the higher the sensitivity the louder the speaker. Basically.
The more watts the louder. Basically.
sensitivity of the speakers:
JL's Efficiency: 89.5 dB @ 1W/1m
Infinity's Sensitivity: 90 dB @ 1W/1m
about the same.
The infinitys can handle up to 400 watts, whereas the JL's can handle only 150.
With the same power, about the same. The inifinitys can handle more power and would be louder with a bigger amp.
but probably not by much.
"By the way lets put the soubd quality aside" IMO is a silly thing to do. Most people listen for quality, not volume.

Dude now because of your post on an other thread, I started looking at the phonix gold 300 watt rms components, I have already ordered the 300/2 jl amp so there is no way for me to get those and power them with jl, but I want them. Damit, you should of never open your mouth.
Andy....remember.....this is the way it works..period. There will always be better products than what you have, more advanced, less expensive, whatever. You have to learn to be happy with what you have and let it go. If that were the case, a system in an s2k would cost a LOT of money. Do what you were planning, and enjoy it. When you get bored (if you get bored) then and ONLY then, upgrade. Never doubt what you have. I have seen people go through systems, rims, cars, etc like socks, and are never satisfied because they hate knowing that there is something better on the market. Your system will be great and youll be happy......
