Tuning shop telling me sub wont do anygood?
Guys ive gone to two shops asking for a sub and an amp , and i got the same answer from both places, that do to the car being a convertable i wont be able to get bass into the cokpit, and one guy looked to be very oness and told me to upgrade the interior speakers and i would be able to get enough bass like that, and if that didn't work he would throw the sub in the back, but i don't wanna spend money on putting a sub and not getting any boom. By the way yes this well be with a aftermarket headunit. Thanks for the help guys
Do yourself a favor, and set the shop on fire. Bunch of idiots, who are clearly, clueless. You can have PLENTY of bass in an s2000. A box in the toolwell, a nice 10", and a nice amp, you are set. Ask them to explain the physical differences of airflow in a coupe, 4 door, and a convertible. All three have something diving the passenger compartment with the trunk right? How is it different. I hate idiots.
It's like everything, they all have an opinion.
The opinions here are based on experience, I would bet those shops have never touched an S2000 which means you should run from them.
Will you get the head pounding bass of a 15" in a small SUV driven by a 1000 watt amp? probably not. But the sub adds alot of dimension to the music. Even with an 8" in ours it is a vast improvement.

I went old school with big huge amps, but if I were starting a system from scratch, I would definately look at the Alpine PDX amps. PDX 1.1000, matched with a Type X, 10" sub. Then when you do the fronts get the PDX 2.150 or if you need more...then the PDX 4.150 bridged will provide 300 watts per channel for the fronts. Those amps are stackable, yet small enough I think they'll fit over the gas tank so you can keep your spare if you want. Seems like they were made with our cars in mind.
Here's the links...
PDX 1.1000
PDX 2.150
Alpine Type X 10" Sub
You didn't mention having a budget
and I want to see this done...should definitely pound. And you want to have a custom enclosure for the sub...ideally fiberglass for maximum air space in the tool well...so long as were going top of the line on everything.
LOL your shop is a pure idiot....come sit in my s2000 for one second and tell me what you think?
I run a single 10w6v2 in a special sealed box in the corner - if you can' feel that thing you must be dead!
Hate idiots who talk before knowing what they say makes them look more like an a$$ than just shutting their trap in the first place.
