I'm about to have my stereo system upgraded. Infinity Basslink in trunk, Diamond M5 amplified by xtant 202m (50 x 2). Where to place tweeters for the best sounding system? How do they sound when installed next to woofers under grill? They could be angled.

Component speakers...the "A" frame of the door.

I just finished with my stereo upgrade!

I put the tweeters in the doorpanels, but higher than the woofers, so nothing will obstruct when me and my passenger are sitting in the seats...

You can see the results at http://www.xs4all.nl/~pwb/s2000 somewhere at the bottom of the page.

The sound is fenomenal!!!

I guess I'm now just trying to decide between the upper door location and the A-pillar. Has anyone heard both. Seems to me both have their advantages. In fact, door location may actually place the tweeter closer to your head. A-pillar may also equalize the distances of both tweeters.

OPINIONS PLEASE

My ex did these in mine and will do it again for anyone who wants them. When he installed all of the equipment in my car, I told him I wanted NOTHING visible to thieves who might look in and want to steal something (I also refused to have holes cut in my door panels), and this was the solution we came up with. The imaging is really good, and the picture doesn't do it justice.

If anyone wants this done to their car, getting my ex to do it is easy: you would contact him, at which point he would buy A pillar covers and tweeters, mount the tweeters, and send them to you. The only work that would need to be done local to you is to have a stereo shop run the wire to the A pillar. Then you can hook them up and snap the new covers on, while retaining your own original A pillar covers (some people are picky about keeping the original parts intact, so here's that solution).

PM me or email me for how to get in contact with him if you are interested.

I checked the A-pillars as well, but my tweeters were to big to fit (diameter-wise, depth would be ok in place of the side window vent thingy).

You might want to consider tweeters that can pivot a little bit if you mount in the door or A-pillars for better sounding results...

Do to the diameter of the tweeter, if I mount them in the pillars I have to place them close to the windshield aiming parallel to it and slightly upward.

I just realized there is also room to mount them just above the woofers in front(toward front of car) of the door opening handle. This seems like a pretty good location since it's not far from the woofer, not as close to your head, not blocked by any body part.
