Default tweeter mounting locations...

well the last component of my stereo upgrade is slated to arrive today (Boston Acoustics GT-22 Amp) which means on the next weekend off i get to tackle the install. i've been going so many different directions though on where to mount my tweeters (focal KP 165 components) and wanted to see what some of the others here have done. the install thread doesnt seem to highlight many tweeter locations, more sub and amp photos than anything, so who here can help? i've been leaning towards buried under the A-pillars, ala JWA, but am worried what that may to do seperation. i'm thinking of maybe an angle mount behind the existing speaker cover on the doors, pointed across the cabin a bit in the direction of the opposite seating area. i'd just like to get the soundstage up a bit, keep component seperation to a minimum and center the thing a little better.

post up pics (if you got em) of your tweeter locations and what you like/dislike about that location.

I have a 2002 so my car came with the tweeter pods but you can buy them and just add them in.
I happen to like the sound stage in the stock location, so do some don't. If you like really high, highs then just aim then towards you.

This is how I mounted the mounting cup for the tweeter:

I mounted my focal tn51's in the doorlock hangers using inexpensive computer slot covers as the hangers. The slot covers are firm enough not to bounce around but malleable enuf to angle them where you want. I also have a set built into the doors in the angled position by the 6.5's.

Sounds excellent with great clarity and great separation and they are semi-hidden.

I must say this is pretty ingenious solution......

Uh, guys, you know when you quote another post with pics you can just delete the pics before posting your reply or, if you want, leave just the one you need to reference.

BTW, my Diamond Hex tweeters are installed in the standard MY04 tweeter pods.

Aw, wish i saw this pic earlier, then i could've aimed the tweets towards me with the mounting kit my speakers came with. Instead, i just double sided sticky taped them to the bracket. Snaps!

There are many pics if you try a search for tweeter location, etc.....

The following two threads cover most options:
