EDIT: nvm, an S2k owner reviewed them and said they did little to nothing. I am going to go with a powered sub and use the headunit to filter the bass out of the door speaker. Then maybe get the Class D amp if I am still needing more.
Only $749.99 (each) -- and you need two -- at Crutchfield.

I have friends that added just one Focal sub. Behind the driver's seat. This is adequate, as long as you don't drive that much with a co-pliot, who likes music.
In my case, my co-pilot talks so much --- I usually have the system turned down. So, it doesn't really matter --- sub or no sub.
But, driving alone --- a good sub setup makes all the difference in the world. Even with the top down. Even at moderate audio volumes.
I also put sound deadening Dynamat sheets, in the door area. This also helps.

You can keep the 6-inch speaker in the car door. I did. I just added the SW to my Alpine head unit. Subs fill-in the sound, not just the bass. Makes the imaging better. Fuller.
And yes, I thought it made the biggest difference. I mounted my SW on the false wall behind the seat.
With these installed, do you lose much room to push either the driver's or passenger's seats back?
One reason I didn't go this route is how dirty behind my seats get. Top down, wind tends to blow debris back there. Was concerned sub would be a pain to keep clean.

No problem. Really the same as having the sub under the seat. Steel grille is strong. It won't dent. Easy to vacuum.
Focal is a premium speaker company from France. Their stuff is not cheap. The quality is first rate. For cars and home use.
