since I bought car audio stuff...stayed away to keep from getting into the next big thing spirol, but am tired of the stock system and want to upgrade. I have no idea what quality costs these days, perhaps this will help:

Last system from the mid 80's was a Soundstream Head w/ Polk speakers, forgot the amp., spent about 1k w/o install.

Looking for minimally intrusive components, no need for sub, best speakers and good HU?
