Default Which Viper sensors should I get?

I'm going to have a Viper system installed early next week. My plan as of now is to get either the 5901 or 5902 unit (they're the same except for the remote controls), but not hook up the remote start system. Apparently, it'll be cheaper without the remote start, I won't need a bypass module, and frankly, even if I did get remote start, I'd never use it. I'm a firm believer in parking in-gear for safety reasons, so I would not feel comfortable leaving the car in neutral.

So my question is which sensors / extras are worth getting with this unit?

My first thought was to get the tilt sensor, a backup battery, and a field disturbance detector for if the top is slashed (it'll have to be set to the right sensitivity). It seems like the window shatter sensor may not be necessary with the field sensor. Maybe someone can give me a suggestion on this. I'd also like to have the trunk and possibly the windows accessible from the remote.

For the 5901 remote start or not its still the same amount of work but you are correct you just dont need the bypass. as far as sensors go, you do not need a sensor for the trunk, just a relay to switch polarity. To automate your windows you will need (530T). The field disturbance sensor (508D), works but is not a favorite of mine for the main reason that you must get the adjustments perfect or your alarm will be going off every time someone walks next to your car. Backup battery is a good idea, always has been (520T). As far as the tilt sensor goes i would do it if you can get it cheap. its not a necessary sensor but can definitely help in a towing attempt situation(507m).

Just remember this the alarm is only as good as the person that installs it. A crappy install job on an alarm can be easily disabled by almost anyone. let me know if you need any help with anything

I'm going to have the job done at All Pro Audio in Santa Clara. They're very familiar with S2k alarm installs, and they're giving me a discount for being an s2ki member. I'm going with the 5901 w/ prox sensor, tilt sensor, and backup siren. They're even willing to clean up my HU install a bit, which is mostly quite good, except for a few lazy things, and they'll hardwire my V1, too!

I talked with the owner about the prox sensor, and he said they've put those in S2ks plenty of times, and it's a good sensor to have for soft tops. They'll configure it so it won't go off if people just walk by, but will if the inner zone is penetrated.

my proximity sensor works great. if someone walks by the car, nothing will happen. if they walk up to the car and peak in, it will give a warning. if any motion is detected it will go off

i have the Clifford version with backup battery, motion sensor and 2 way paging

As far as I can tell thus far, All Pro Audio did a great job installing the alarm. The proximity sensor isn't going off when someone simply walks by it. If they get close and hang around, it might chirp. If they hover over it, wave their arms over the top, etc., it'll chirp and probably start going off. I love having the 2-way remote. So far I'm very happy.
