Default Weak Stereo Signal

I have just recently been getting a much weaker stereo signal. It seems to have been getting progressively worse. A lot of the FM stations that I use to get are now getting some static in with the music and I don't even get any AM signals. This was not the case when I first installed my head unit 2 years ago.

I've checked the antenna cable behind the headunit. It's plugged in solidly. I've unscrewed the antenna near the trunk and rescrewed it back in, and have looked at the antenna base inside the trunk, and nothing seems out of order. I've also swapped the radio and verified that this problem still occurs with a different radio.

I did notice that while searching for an AM signal, if I grab the rear antenna with my hand, I could get one station to come in sort of well. But it falls back to staic the minute I let go.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be?

Thanks,
-Chris

Try this thread. Since you swapped headunits and the problem persists, it is in the wiring somewhere.

Your gonna have to pull the HU and check the ant. plug on the back of the HU to see if it came out.

Thanks Thetz, this is exactly my problem! I'll check the AM power amp when I get home.

Thanks again
