Default help - i need to find a fuse....

ok John was kind enough to help me wire up my jl500 and for power we tapped into my distrubtion block (4 into it and two 8s coming out) to the two amps i have and i have a 100 amp fuse at the battery..

John had a spare amp kit lying around, so since i needed an eye hook for the gound i simply cut the cord which had an inline 40 amp atc fuse and connected that to the ground of my amp (hope i'm making sense)

well anyway i had the system way up today and it blew the 40 amp fuse i had on the ground wire

i know i don't need a fuse on the ground because of the 100 amp fuse at the battery BUT it would easy and great if i could find a 50 amp atc blade fuse just to toss into the inline fuse holder and not worry

anyone know where i could find one??

Thanks
Steve

www.partsexpress.com

chances are -- they have it.

*edit*

wait -- ATC? or ATO?

i'm not sure you'll find an ATO bigger than 40A.

also, why not ditch the fuse all togther and just run a straight wire on your ground.... you are fused at the battery, and that's what is critical.
is the amp itself fused? is your distro block fused?

Thanks

the amps are fused at the battery with a 100 amp fuse (feeding an alpine mrf-f450 & JL500) with #4 wire into my distrubtion block (not fused) then two #8s running to the amps

I think you're right i can find anything bigger than a 40 amp ato fuse (not a max) -

it's just the way it's already wired it would be easy to pop a large fuse in it BUT i think i might just need to re-ground the system with a straight 8 gauge wire

Thanks for your help

Stop over this weekend Steve and well fix it. I can pick up more connectors, I need them anyway. That really shouldn't have a fuse anyway. Stop over we'll swap it out.
