Default weird problem

The problem is that the motor dies with the use of the blinker left or right. I did have an aftermarket alarm installed but it was removed to find the problem. Also there were some problems that occured when a shop tried to install the yellow box to use in conjunction with 4.44 gears. Some of the wires were pulled out but MZM in Austin has repaired all the connections and has bypassed the damaged wires but the problem still exists( yellowbox no longer in use). This doesn't seem to be consistent but seems to happen more at idle and when i first use my blinker. There seems to be no apparent short to ground and what it seems like is the signal cuts ignition. Anyone have any ideasor ideas to help?

i don't know if my mods have to do anything but.. some things that i have to do with electrical components are aem ems, greddy gauges and turbo timer, walboro fuel pump, 720cc denso injectors with honda resistor box, alpine headunit, sub and amp..

if MZM can't pin point and isolate the problem then i may have to resort to a whole new wire harnesses.

The yellow box, if wired properly, won't cause any problems. So maybe there was a wiring problem with it too?

Your blinker problem is most likely caused by one of your many add-ons being mis-wired. I saw a car that would instantly shut the engine down whenever the AC compressor was turned on, then fire right up again when you turned the compressor off. It acted like the ignition was cut off when the AC compressor turned on, but the cause turned out to be a wiring error on the Comptech Signal Modifier, which controls the MAP signal voltage on a car with a Comptech SC. Thing is, the Comptech ran great, until you turned on the AC that is. And it never threw a CEL either.

The shop that installed it didn't follow the instructions on which ECM wire to use for +12v power on the Signal Modifier box, they just grabbed a red wire on the ECM. Since they "verified" that it had +12v switched by the ignition they "assummed" it would work.

The problem was the red wire they grabbed was actually the AC compressor clutch wire, which happens to be powered by a back-feed through the clutch coil whenever the ignition is ON and the AC is OFF, but when the clutch is energized that wire gets grounded. That killed power to the Signal Modifier and grounded the MAP signal, which caused the ECM to think the throttle was fully closed so it immediately reduced the injector duration to near zero. So without fuel the engine died. When the AC was turned off the ground was lifted from the red wire, the Signal Modifier got power again, and the MAP signal returned to normal.

All that explanation was to get the point across that one wrong wire can cause such unusual problems - the car runs fine until . . .

My suggestion is to let the car idle, turn on the blinker, and let the car die. Then leave it like that and start checking every wire going into the ECM looking for a pulsing voltage that goes up and down in time with the blinker. Chances are one of the ECM signal wires got crossed to the blinker circuit.
