ok after much thought and discussion with my audiophile friends, I have decided to go with the diamond audio s600, wlaurent subbox and jl8w3 sub.

I'm wondering what amps are you guys using or if you could give me a recommondation to power this stuff.
my turn to chime in.

with my previous experiences with the hex, they lack midbass when compared to other speakers. i feel they require a good amount of power in order to get "some" midbass, dynamic and loud. overall the midrange is very sweet and natural sounding when setup correctly. one of my personal favorites when you run a lot of power. when i say a lot of power, it means at least 150x2 to get them started. 200x2 if you want optimal performance.

what is your pricepoint for an amp? there are many to choose from.

I have the A/D/S 346is, the predecessor to the cs series and they are amazing. Quality that is hard to find in todays SPL crap market. Basically, I love them. Silk dome rules.

You can't go wrong with JL, Phoenix Gold, even the new Alpine amps are good. Stay away from the Phoenix Gold Xenon series. They suck that's why they're so cheap. Phoenix Gold Titanium series is the best series they make. The titanium 500/4 is a great amp. JL 300/4 or Alpine MRV-F 345 (I think) are really nice and pretty small too. Even the Alpine MRV-F 545 is not too big. All great quality in your price range. You won't be disappointed. Check out onlinecarstereo.com, pretty good prices.

So true. I think I will end up putting silk domes to replace the aluminum ones in the Kappa Perfects...

JL amps are all pretty much $ in the bank....they run well. I would not buy from Phoenix Gold, personally, because I do not think they are CEA 2006 compliant yet. That is just me. I like the Alpine amps, personally, over the JL's. Just sound cleaner to me....Memphis also makes a darn good amp....probably putting a 2004 in my car next month or so.
