Default What components?

Hey guys,

I am looking for a set of 6.5 component speakrs for my s. I do plan to amp the speakers, however i do not plan on getting a sub.

Just wanted a few suggestions, as i did the search feature and didn't come up with much.

I am looking to spend as much as $500 for the speakers. Just wondering which set would sound really good with some bass?

This has been discussed ad nauseum.

Try searching again...

All of those are nice speaker setups but each one sounds different to each person... I hope that made sense... Anyway what type of music do you listen to? That will help us help you better.

I have the elemental designs eDi 6500s, and they get incredibly loud off of 150 watts RMS each and they sound amazing (though you will still wish you had a sub). They get more than loud enough to hear them very loudly and clearly top down at 80MPH. With the top up, it can be painful though. They get great midbass but you simply cannot get enough sub bass to keep up with such mid/high volume levels without serious distortion, so I stilll reocmmend some sort of sub.

for really good bass levels, you will probably need either a dedicated 6.5" sub (JL 6w0...i think) or a sub in the trunk. WLAURENT boxes take up almost no space, and can fit a shallow mount / low displacement sub.

Most (if not all) of these component speaker systems have a mid-low driver, not a real woofer, so you really do need a sub.

I just had an 8" Alphasonik sub installed in a WLAURENT box in the trunk with a Memphis 250W mono amp and oh....my...God......

I have the Diamond Audio s600s in my car. They sound great. Not familiar with the others, but these sound great. They are a pretty bassy speaker. You might still wish for a sub, but they could do. My brother has the same speakers in his Tahoe and he was running them without a sub for awhile. I know more air space in an SUV. In my S they sound good with the top up, need more bass with top down, but all in all they sound great with a very high threshold for distortion. They'll handle 150 watts RMS, but are deafening with 75.

ok after much thought and discussion with my audiophile friends, I have decided to go with the diamond audio s600, wlaurent subbox and jl8w3 sub.

I'm wondering what amps are you guys using or if you could give me a recommondation to power this stuff.
