Default What do you guys think of this?

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=6

Just looking around for some options on a sub.

I placed my order for my alphasonik from acaraudio on 10/8 and I dont even have a shipping confirmation yet, so I am thinking about cancelling my order and getting something else.

or this

dave isnt this one of your favorites above, and the one below as well

http://69.93.14.227/index.cfm?fuseaction=p...Product_ID=2002

Im leaning towards the infiniti, from what i can read its geared towards SQ.

Also I noticed most subs with dual voicecoils are 4 ohm configurations. Correct me if I am wrong, but with my amp, I need a dual 2 ohm configuration. My amp is bridgeable with a 4 ohm load and is able to put out 500 watts rms. If I wire a dual 4 ohm sub in series, that will give me an 8ohm load right, will this work with my amp. How this affect out put of my amp at 8 ohm. My amp is not stable at 2 ohms bridged, so thats out of the question.

you might want to check out Elemental Design's 11Ov2.

it's a very efficient driver thats extremely capable in smaller enclosures.

Yes, it would work if you were to wire to an 8-ohm load, but the power would be cut drastically. You can get either a DVC 2-ohm or DVC 8-ohm sub and still be able to wire for a 4-ohm load. Or you can just look for an SVC 4-ohm sub.

Of the ones you mentioned above, I like the Eclipse the best, followed by the JL 10w6v2-D2. I like Infinity......just not their subs (just my opinion.....you should listen before judging).

Are you going with a tool-well enclosure? I noticed you mentioned acaraudio....isn't that WLAURENT's site? If you are getting a side enclosure, I doubt any these subs (excluding the eD) will work in such a small space.

Too bad eD's crap is back ordered for ever and ever. So thats not one of my choices. I have heard their nightmare stories of long delays to get a product.

I also am looking at a SEAS Lotus 10 inch svc 4 ohm sub, I might end up going with that one after reading several reviews.

Azcartoys is Williams site, I ordered from Acaraudio, as they where the only place that had the Alphasonik in stock, and now I am wondering if they even had it in stock or they wanted to hold my money until they arrive from back order in November. I get them until tommorow to provide me with a tracking number, if I dont have by Thursday I am cancelling the order with my credit card company. This wait is ridiculous.

JWA what do you like about the Eclipse sub? Give me your opinion on it. What don't you like about the Infiniti? Let me know. I am trying to gather and formulate opinions on the subs.

I have heard both brands....dunno about the exact model of the Eclipse, as they are kinda hard to find in this area. I liked the way the Eclipse model sounded (listened to one about a year ago). It had very tight response. I was impressed. I also listened to several Infinity subs (Kappa's), and it just didnt sound "right" for me. It sounded a little muffled (?). Its kind of hard to describe it. If you listen to them (if they are indeed similar to the ones I listened to a year ago), you will see what I am talking about.

According to the Infinity website (Prefect 10VQ manual), it only has an xmax of 11/16". The Eclipse (per the link you provided) has an xmax rating of 1.5" (one way). This should allow for better LOW bass frequency reproduction. The JL only has a .6" xmax, but I just like the way it sounds (almost got this one for my old Celica). A 1.5" xmax is amazing.....double that of the JL.

The only thing with the Eclipse is that it states this in the link "DCR: 4/coil ". Does this mean that its a DVC with a 4-ohm impediance / coil? If so....it will not really work well with the amp you have. I think the Eclipse is more comparable to the JL 10w7 than the 10w6, according to its stats.

Another big thing is the enclosure size. If you are indeed going with a WLAURENT enclosure, I highly doubt any of these will work. You will probably be pressed to get the proper volume out of a tool well enclosure, as these are no joke subs.

I have heard good things about SEAS, but have never heard one in person. You might want to PM "MR ASDF", as I think he has used them in the past. I think he currently has the SEAS SW300 12" sub. This is according to his signature. He can probably tell you a lot about them.

I have the 2 of the Eclipse 10" (SW8102.4) in a fiberglass enclosure. They hit nicely & definitely lean more towards the SQ side than SPL with the amount of space available in the trunk. Unfortunately there is no way that they would fit in WLaurent's enclosures since they need a minimum of .5 cu ft. I ended up splitting the tire well into 2 separate chambers (single enclosure though) that measured out about .65 cu ft each.

Also, if your amp is only 4-ohm stable bridged, I wouldn't suggest going with the Eclipse Ti series, they are very power hungry. Their "Aluminum" series would be a better match & they do offer a single 2-ohm DVC in that line (SW7104DVC-T2).

I have been talking to MR ASDF about the Lotus subs. If I can cancel my order with Acaraudio, I am going to go with the SEAS 10 inch sub. I have read nothing but great reviews about it. Very accurate and smooth sub.

Good stuff. If you end up getting the SEAS sub, could you post a review on it? I have been curious about these subs as well, but I will not purchase anything that I have not listened to first....unless I get a detailed and bad-ass review .

Of course I will write a detailed review.

Right now I am just trying to figure out how to cancel my order. The retailer is telling me that I cant cancel because the order is in the shipping dept and probably already shipped out. So I asked them to provide me with a tracking number to prove it, and they said they are working on it. I wonder if my credit card company will allow me to cancel the transaction since it seems they dont even have the product in stock.
