Don't want to hijack this thread but if anyone wants an already-built sub box let me know - I'm trying to get rid of mine (I decided not to install it). Email me at myungjohn@yahoo.com if interested.

i have a box that was made similiar to yours. but we bondo'd the inside of our trunk mold after the fiber glass dried. and i see that you only bondo'd after the mold fabric was used to create the top. and i was wondering if it makes a difference. because i followed a different set of instructions i found. and im planning on making another one for my friend, but was just wondering if bondo'ing the inside of the trunk mold makes a difference or not. and or if its better not to bondo the inside at all

You can use bondo to fill in the holes that might be left over from forming the mold. I would use more fiberglass risen though for 2 reasons:

1. Stripes of fiberglass and Resin are stronger than bondo and will help hold the box together, not just put an extra layer in it to fill in the voids.

2. Theres no need to make the inside of a box nice, as most people will never see the inside of an enclosed sub box.

Those are just my thoughts on the matter. But if you like doing it the other way it doesn't sound wrong to me just different I'm sure there are many ways to make a sub box that I haven't tried, and I'm sure someone has made one faster and nicer than mine. This was written just so people would have a good idea of whats involved in building a useful sub box for there car.

How long did it take you and how much did you spend to make your custom box?

I honestly don't know how much it costed, as we really didn't use that much stuff. As for time, I'd say maybe 10-12 hours... or there abouts.

It takes a lot of free time

hopefully, i'll be putting this guide to good use many times in the future. btw, you probably want to get Jim to edit a link to this guide into the S2000 FAQ or someother such location.

The link is there. It's toward the end of the first post in the FAQ thread.
