Wow, what a great job and writeup! Maybe I missed it, but how long did the project take from first sketch to completion?

Ummm.... maybe a couple of nights total (10-12 hours tops). I can't say for sure the exact hours because we were doing a few things at the same time so its truly hard to say and exact time.

Are all these supplies available in one place (ie. Home Depot or Lowes)?

Man what an awesome write up!

This has given me enough confidence to take on my very 1st fiberglass box...I have built boxes out of MDF for years...But now I think I'm ready to give fiberglass a shot...Thanks Darknight

Thumbs up

Thanks for the very detailed write. I was planning on buildin 2 fiberglass boxes for my 2004 silverado. Instead of doing all the sanding and painting, what would you think about coverin the box with a matching vinyl or carpeting? The reason I'm askin is because I don't really have the time with my work schedule to spend perfecting the finished look, so I was thinkin that I could stretch and glue some sort of carpeting or other cover over the finished box. What would you recommend covering the boxes with that would be easy enough to stretch and make look good?

Well no matter what you do after you fiberglass the boxes you should sand it down a little bit, and add a coat of filler.

what's the best way to get a quote on a custom box for an awis15p audiobahn subwoofer? I keep blowing 12"s, so just wanted to get a 15" that would be able to take 1500 watts with no problem. Don't think I have the patience to build one...any advice darkknight?
