Kenwood 1687 (6 1/2") in front and Kenwood 1077 (4") behind the seats...putting the speakers back there makes a huge difference.

MBQuart DSD 216's with 19NX tweeters. I think the titanium tweeters are the only way to go for real sound even with the top down. You do have to use spacers or other mounting changes to use the MBQ 6.5" woofers, though.

See signature A good pair of fronts is important, esp. at 80+ mph w/the top down.

Infinity Kappa Perfects up front

1 rear speaker spouting oodles of bassy goodness

This is a 2 seat convertible guys, not an SUV, so forget about "rear fill". It might make sense if you're trying to squeeze the most out of your 4x10W head unit, but if you're willing to go so far as an amp and decent set of front speakers, you'll not have need for rears. Just because they did it in the Z3 or Miata doesn't make it right...

Actually, well placed front speakers eliminate the need for seat-muffling-rear-speakers...

Having a 3-way front component set with midrange and tweeters high on the dash can be heard clearly at any speed... even by those following you (as in Fall Colors Meet).

Sure, for those with midrange and tweeters by your knees might benefit from rear speakers (as long as you don't put your seat all the way back)

I'll agree that the car is noisy, that the speaker location isn't perfect, and that adding rear speakers makes a difference. I can't agree that this difference is good or that this is the only way (or even a good way) to get the volume you need. Unless you've got an LCD panel, surround sound, and watch movies in your S2000, any frequencies regular speakers are capable of producing (80hz and above) should come from in front of your ears, as they would at a concert or any live performance. I say "should" because this is only what's considered good practice, and may not be your personal preference. I prefer the singer to perform in front of me, not all around.

Basically, ditto what Shaner said, and has said dozens of times.

No rear speakers and not only can I hear my stereo, it's about all I can hear at any speed. It's like somebody pushed "mute" on the rest of the world...

Whatever! This is a noisy roadster that will never have a soundstage worth a damn. Argue all you want (I suggest you try it first) but IMO the rear speakers are a good change for most.

Where's a good website to go to that might have a bunch of the speakers you fellas are posting here. I live in a pretty remote part of the country and online shopping is the ONLY way for me to get quality stuff.

I'm especially interested in the Boston, Infiniti, and Dynaudio (never heard of it, but it sounds cool ) brands.

Thanks
