What kind of speakers are you using in your S?

I added Infinity 62i Kappa speakers (6.5" coaxial) and an MTX 2120 amp. It is much better than stock. Since the 2002 model comes with tweeter pods, you should probably go with seperates. Like you I've been leaning towards Lucid's rear speaker upgrade, especially after the recommendation of cdelena. He's a straight shooter!

Why do you have to use spacers to mount the MBQ woofers? Are they too deep? I just bought a pair, but haven't installed them yet.

G&S Redlind 6.5" and Vifa Tweeters. Powered by a Cadence 75x4 and sound broken up electronicly by a Clarion X-over.

Great sound staging and a stealth install. No rear speakers as Shaner said it would mess up my sound staging.

Skip the drop in coaxials. I had them for less than a month and upgraded to some Polk components (EX2560). I was even able to return the coaxials to GoodGuys. With install, the difference in price was $150; well worth the difference in sound. The components are so much better

I am with Shaner (well not with him! not that there is anything wrong with that!)

Move your soundstage upfront! Esp if you keep your seat back!

And the Dyns are phenominal!

I have to agree. I've got a 10" AlumiPro sub (yes, it's actually aluminum) in the passenger footwell, w/ no loss of legroom, and a set of DynAudios in the front (w/ the tweeters in custom, removable pods). It's all powered by a 400 watt Helix amp, and sounds great. It's extremely clean sound, and loud enough to get me a ticket if I'm not careful.

I see absolutely no need to cut the car and wedge speakers in behind the seats. If I were to uninstall my system, there would be no way for anyone to tell it had ever been there.

Dinnyin,

How did you fit a 10" Alumapro in a fairly sized box in the passenger footwell with "no loss of foot space". Did you remove the passenger airbag and use the volume in the dash?

Nope, there's a huge pocket of dead space between the interior wall and the firewall behind the carpet up there. It doesn't interfere with the airbag at all.

I didn't do it personally, I've been using the same stereo shop for years. He figured it out.
