Default What to mount amp on?

I am going to install an amp in my spare tire & wanted to know what I should mount the amp on? Would plywood work or is there a more suitable material?

Guess I'll use plywood!

I put my amp in the spare tire and just put a lot of foam around it so I could get it out easily if I needed the spare. It seems to ride well even when I corner aggressively and also doesn't seem to overheat...my biggest concern. So far so good. It is a T class Blaupunkt 300 watt amp.

I put mine in the well in the trunk...

I bought a piece of plexi-glass from Homedepot... took the mat out of the trunk well placed it on top of the plexi-glass, drew a line around it, cut (slightly smaller) with a miter-saw and cleaned it up with a dremel... Mounted the amp with screws/nuts on the back. Fits like a glove.

If you get cleaver, you can then mount another piece of plexi ontop of it with "stand-offs", then put the mat back down.

2002s2000.....looks great! I don't want to go to the much trouble as I'm only adding a small amp so that I can hear my music w/the windows/top down. No subs.

Nevermind....ended up mounting the amp on the wall behind the gas tank, as the amp was to big to fit in the spare w/the retaining clip holding the tire in place. Oh well!

Me too!

I'm extra curious as I've got *two* large amps to mount...
