Arrow What ring terminals should I use...

Hey guys/gals,

I was wondering if anyone knew what gauge type ring terminals should I use on the stock power and ground cables leading to the battery. I ended up buying the monster battery terminals like the one John (darkknight1999) had in his wiring instructions. I'm pretty sure John knows this...or may have even covered it, but I can't seem to find it. I don't know if that's what I'm suppose to do or replace the entire cable, so I apologize if I'm asking a dumb question. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Battery terminals dont use rings. You cut off the factory mount (the red thing with the ring around it, so you have bare wire) and plug them into the terminal. The terminal sits directly on the battery.

Some battery terminals are made to use ring terminals, some are not. I used a ring terminal on my factory battery terminal to connect the power wire for my amp. I got a 5/16 ring terminal made for 8 gauge wire and soldered two 10 gauge wires into it, then put it on the bolt that clamps the battery terminal closed.

Example of battery terminal that uses ring terminals:

Cheap too, only $6 a pair.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for your guys' response and help. And I hope I'm not missing something. The picture of thraak's setup with the monster terminals is what I have pretty much. I believe those thing that are connected to the main negative and positive cables are ring terminals, right? Cause it looks like he used the monster cripless ring terminals to then screw it down into one of the three screws on the terminals. I was wondering which one (GA?) I should use for those. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for the input Thraak. I thought it would be okay to use those for the main neg. and pos., but I wasn't sure which gauge rings to use. I will be setting up my stuff soon, so thank you again for your response. Also thanks again NFRs2000nyc for your input and response. I don't know how I would have done more than half of this stuff if it weren't for this forum and people like you guys. Take it fellas,

Rob
