Default How do I connect my amp wire to the battery?

I have a 4 guage wire that I need to connect to the + terminal. I'm trying to decide between replacing the battery clamp w/ an aftermarket one which has two hookups (one for stock and one for the amp wire) vs adding some sort of ring terminal somewhere to the stock setup. Does anyone have a good idea how to connect the amp wiring to the battery? Pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Mike

Either of those will work. I recommend also placing a fuse near the connection to protect from a short.

I used a gold 4 gauge ring crimp terminal and just added it onto the existing bolt down connectors on the battery terminal. Make sure you put an in-line fuse holder close to the battery though I have the fuse holder fixed to the left hand inner fender with some double sided adhesive fasteners and sheaved the cable in flexible conduit to protect it and keep a stock look.

Its way late here or else I would snap a pic for you

No problem...looks like we had the same thought on it anyway.

RF makes a very good clamp on inline fuse. The fuse is right on the battery clamp(what I use) and allows you to easily connect the 4 gauge wire to it with its torx nut lock.

THe 4 gauge crimp connecters work fine. I have that then the big monster fuse about 8 inches on the line attached near the vin. Then run all the way back to a distruubution box and it works fine to feed two medium sized amps. I will need to use the nice gold plated battery cap when I go to the ppi stuff as I need to run 2 4 gauges to the back and then the crimp connectors start to have trouble delivering the load.

Hey Lucid, Whats the part number for the Rockford Fosgate clamp on fuse holder? I checked their website and other places but can't seem to find the right one. Thanks
