What setup can I use?
I as usual, Im a having trouble hearing audio when the top is down. I want to replace the OEM speakers in the doors. I was wondering what do you folks advice me to purchase. I'd like to get some component speakers and amp for those.
But do I need an amp???
What brands do you all recomend???
What do you all think about the Alpine Type -Rs Components?
I have a Pioneer HU, dont know if it makes a differnce?

Buying component speakers is kinda tricky. Alot of people here are going to have their favorites but it all comes down to personal preferance. I personally prefer Focal or MB Quart components. They run anywhere from about $400 - $1000 for a nice set that can handle the power a good amp is going to be pushing. AMP wise, JL Audio or Rockford Fosgate is all i have ever ran. You may find it hard to fit a Rockford amp in the trunk though. JL Audio is probably the best way to go. That is what i have went with in the most recent past for the simple fact that it dosent matter if your pushing 12 volts or 14.4 volts, you are getting the same power output with a JL Audio. So the choice is up to you. Hope that it was helpful.
Yea I see what you mean...Is there any advantage to having several pieces of hardware be the same brand ??? In other words, will I get a cleaner sound if my amp and my components are the same brand....although I think the answer to this question....is NO
Theoretically it should be as good as it gets since componenets would be developed around the same equipment and in particular the speakers.
Realistically though, equal equipment within the same price/power range should work equally well.
IMO, the difference will always reside in you choice of speakers rather than wire or amp brand.
