What are Some Questions to Ask a Car Alarm Installer ...?
Going to get my car alarm installed soon...
What should I ask...?
Where will you put the 2nd battery?
What Kill Switch will you do?
Where will you install the Proximity Sensor?
...
What else is there I need to ask?
Thanks guys!

I'm not sure I would go in there trying to look more knowledgeable than you are. I did a stint as an installer, and those types just seem to come off looking like pricks. Rather than trying to seem knowledgeable, give the installer lots of time with the car and let him know it's important that the install is done well and to take his time. At the time of delivery, ask him to go through the operation of the alarm, and ask if there;s anything special that needs to be done when replacing a battery, etc. If it's a DEI alarm (Viper, Python, Clifford) the starter kill is built in to the alarm unit. It's setup to fail in the condition that will allow the car to start. Mostly you'll want to know where the status LED is and where the valet switch is. Those two things will be what allow you to change settings on the alarm after installation. I hope this helps.
i recently has remote start installed and Viper 5704. The features i ask was when i start the car, the doors lock, and when the key is turned off the doors unlock. you can alsod get DEI 516 "voice alarm" added. Basically when you arm the car, you dont hear cherps when lock or unlock. You'll hear Viper Arm!, Viper disarmed" etc. I know for sure proximity sensor tends to drain the battery fast, so secondary battery is recommended.
Warranty on installation & parts. Cheap is not always better. Get a feel of how available and responsible the shop wlll be should things go wrong
after the install. That had happened to me before. In fact I still need to go back for some adjustment.

It is important to make sure the alarm is not too sensitive. with that being said, a proximity sensor is a huge headache. The sensor can't tell the difference between wind, rain, a thief, or a cat. Sensitivity is the only answer and if you have ever messed w/ a proximity before, huge headache like I said.
All in all, remember if somebody wants your car, seats, etc they're going to get it.
