Hey everyone, so I bought my s2000 about a month ago and the first thing I plan on tackling is the stereo (well I'm shopping for a handful of things atm). The car came with a Sony headunit, Infinity components and a 2ch amp tucked in where the tools are in the trunk.

I'm looking to add a sub, I think the easiest route would be replace the 2ch with a 4ch and bridge the extra 2 channels to a sub. My initial thought was to relocate the amp to the back left wall of the trunk and put the sub where the tools are now. I read in a different thread (can't find it) a few days ago that you can wrap the tools in a blanket and put them in the spare tire well? I'd like to keep them and the spare in the car. My other thought was to go with a corner mount so I can fit a tire in the trunk in case I get a flat. But then I can't fit golf clubs in the trunk. Trade off one way or the other.

What are you running and how do you like it? How has it affected storage? I have a truck so the tire and clubs are really the only concern.

Kenwood KFC-XW1200F - 12" SHALLOW MT SUB - had one of these in a ported box in my old Civic. I think it would be enough for my S.
Zen enclosure box Would also do a corner mount.
Precision Power PPI P900.4Back in the day I sold car audio and PPI made a solid product. From what I could find, this pumps out a fair bit of RMS power. Bang for the buck, it was the best option I could find, but am more than open to suggestions.
PIONEER GM-D8604 Also saw this one which looks like it would work. 300RMS bridged at 4ohms to a sub thats max is 350RMS, should match up well.
Precision Power S760.4 The last option I was looking at.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Looking for the best way to mount the amp. I already have power running to the 2ch, I'll have to check the gauge as I may need to upgrade it for a more powerful amp. The current one is only 240w.

I am using 2 of the Darksidesubs.com V1 enclosures. With 2 8" Kickers.
My amps 2 Rockford Fosgate 300.4 are mounted in the tool well.

Yeah, I saw that one but it looks like quite the install job. Not sure I want to take my seat out and pull back the carpet. I'll do a little more looking into this one.

This was the other company I was looking at. How do you like the setup? Do you still have your tools in the tool well?

Though since then I've switched the sub for a Type-R and now have an Alpine PDX-V9 fitted atop the fuel tank.

 

So the sub was under your amp? If so how did it sound? Do you still have the tools in the car?

 

I have a sub box that fits in the tool area, however you're still able to place the tools there. Just have to lift the box out to get to them.. Nothing to it. Not sure who made it.

 

So the depth of the box allows the tools to stay in the trunk? That works, where do you have your amp mounted?

 

correct. I have the amp screwed to one side of the top of the box so I can remove it altogether when needed.

 

Sounds interesting. Did you build the box yourself? What size is the sub?
