Default Whats the diff between BOSTON S60 ,sl60,sx60?

I been looking at door speakers to go good with my Alpine 9885 cd deck i recently purchased. Im gonna be powering them with the cd deck.I tried looking for the differences between the 3 and i couldnt really find anything other than rms power. So if u could point me in the right direction that would be great.

The "s" series is the entry level line and work rather well with lower powered systems ie deck power. The "sx" line of speakers is the next step up in quality and a little more power handling. works fine on amplified power and deck power. The "SL" line is the audiophile line. These sound fine on deck power as well, but really open up with an external amplifier.

I have owned a six inch version of every single series listed and have since upgraded to the Pro60's. My SL65's used to be in the doors and were moved to behind the seats. The SL65's I had were fine on deck power, but really sounded great with an amp on them. Word of caution though. Very little low frequency extension will be had with any of the Boston speakers. I love them, but highly recommend them only in use with a subwoofer system. Hope this helps.

I have the SL60s in my doors. They sound great, very clear... but I agree--they really don't like low frequencies. I have my high pass crossover set at 100hz for those suckers. By the way, I am powering them with 75wrms x2 via an Alpine amp. I would not recommend these speakers without an amp. Be sure to look at the efficiency rating of a speaker when choosing them without an amplifier. The more efficient, the louder they will be without an amp.
