Clarion 745, 845 or higher.

I have the Clarion 745, and I like it! I was going to go with Alpine but went with this one instead. I'm happy with it!

I know this is an old thread, but I've read similar questions before around this board.

The reason that the higher end units require a direct link to the battery is they (at least the Alpine ones) have a 20A fuse on the battery line. The radio fuse in most cars is 15A. So, during current surges, the 15A fuse in the fuseblock could blow even though the radio can support up to 20A.

Definitely a great deck aesthetically, but reliability is crap. I went through multiple exchanges before I finally got one that didn't skip every few minutes and actually loaded and ejected discs with some predictability.

Going by the absense of car audio equipment on Nakamichi's US web site, I'm casting my assumption that they've finally been forced out of the US car audio market (because their products are shit).

Will you still have dash controls with the Alpine cda 9883??? My partner is selling me a brand new one for 100 bucks - well he sold me a brand new one... I haven't installed it as of yet though... If I can't keep dash control I may put it in my beater...

I think the 9835 is the last greatest deck alpine has made. Very tunable once you get the hang of how to really use it.

There newer stuff seems too "mass consumer oriented" for the regular joes. To me they are more flash than function in their current line of HU's.

I got a 9830 in my mr2 and dont regret it, still very tunable. But i would never buy any of their current HU's.

im going eclipse next.
