I'm sorry, I meant for the amps in the trunk. Where did you all find a good connection? I'm running a mono block MTX amp & I seem to be having ground issues. I'm getting frustrated. So I'm asking the forum where they grounded their's. Mine is currently grounded on the bottom left bolt of the trunk when you remove the covers to access the fuel pump. With a small amp it seems fine but the the mono bloack I'm not sure if I'm getting enough ground.

I have built many custom stereo systems. It is best to ground the wire to the chassis. But, before you do sand off the paint. This will make a better connection. The paint actually creates some resistance and can cause a ground loop.

You may need to have bigger power wire and ground wire. I would get a bigger ground wire first.

Bad call.

There are so many layers of rust inhibitor and paint, along with the welded nut (welds aren't exactly great conductors) makes that a not-so-good mounting point. And, yes, I know, everyone here does it. That doesn't make it right. Everyone here is into Class-D full-range amplifiers - but few realize the sound difference a quality AB amplifier makes. There are a lot of Alpine Fan-bois too. Doesn't mean Alpine's the greatest product out there (in fact, their F1 line isn't even made by them!)

The BEST ground is a brass screw threaded into a purpose drilled/tapped hole in the chassis with all the layers of paint/primer/rust inhibitor dremeled off the surrounding area.

I believe you. I'm also curious how much more capacity we're talking about. It may be negligible for low to mid power setups. I might do some testing on the amp draw on two different points.

I'd be curious to see the results.
