why is my system distorting?

yep, more power! speakers arent distorting, your amp is. it is sending distorted signals to your speakers. to have clean sound at high volume you need power and good speakers. even high quality amps begin distorting when pushed past 3/4 volume.

yeh i didnt wanan spend that much my rears came in today to!! now im gonna go buy a pioneer headunit at best buy and im done with ym system.

wow aounds great. my new pioneer can go upt to volume 65 and i can hit 55 before distorion hits! With loud on i can hit 45 before dsotrotion rear spekars are ok but wow its def nice ot hear sound from front and back. Fronts are def way more important though. eclipse amp

99% of all HU's i've had dealings with create no new volume after 3/4 of their max volume... they just create more distortion. in fact, this is true for many many pre-amps and amps. they just hit the ceiling of their dynamic range.

you were hitting the max output of the HU. glad to hear the amp sorted it all out for you.
