Wow - the problems you are up against with the vandalism issue are certainly noteworthy.

The ORB solution you mentioned does require you to install some flavor of computer in your car that is internet connection capable. You have 2 options: 1) use a simple WiFi connection from the car computer. This will only be useful if you always park your car near some flavor of publicly open internet access (unlikely) or 2) purchase a broadband access card along the lines of the ones that Verizon sells. Access charges for this type of service are roughly $59/month depending on your coverage area and this solution will only be effective when you are within the carrier's prime region.

You still will require some flavor of alarm system that alerts you to be either watching at the time of the incident or some type of recording loop monitoring system that will allow you to see the video of an event you found out about later on. Only the latter would be useful in a court of law as evidence.

Good luck - it sounds like you need it.....

Get a 2.4Ghz wireless cam with receiver and attach it to your home computer with a video capture device.

I have a number of these devices at my house that are all captured using a USB multi-channel vid capture device.

Then set your home PC up to send it to your phone. Of course this means that your car must be within about 150 ft of your home PC.

a hint is that gprs (t-moble) is a contionus internet presance. get a cell phone modem card for your portable or car computer whatever. verison has something too. be aware this is a considerable integration effort.

you can not have 2 cell phones on the same account so is this something you really want to do?

do you want the camera's only active around the house if so get a wifi router on your home computer and call it done. with some software you could post to a website. access with an internet enabled phone nokia6230i. still a considerable integration effort.

the problem isnt at my house since the car is now garaged. Im starting to feel like the 60 per month is worth it. Im averaging 1200 per month in vandalism, whats 60 bucks.
