When I try to activate them, my windscreen washers do jot work at all, as in there is no noise from the pump. Yet my headlight washers work fine. I was wondering if anybody knows of they both run from the same pump? If they do i know it's a problem with the stalk, if they run from independent pumps I know that one is bust.

No they are two separate pumps, the windscreen (windshield in the US of A ) pump is the small unit at the very bottom of the washer bottle. Weirdly enough, I currently have exactly the opposite problem as my headlight washers don't work!
