Heres my list of components

alpine cda-9857 (HU)
infinity kappa perfect 6.1 components (speaks)
jl 300/2 (amp#1)
alpine mrp-m650 (amp#2)

I have everything except for wires and RCAs....but i dont know what to get and what gauge.

I heard "get 2 sets of 12ft of monster RCA cables" ....but arent there a bunch of different types of monster cables? Which model should I get?

what gauge/brand of wires??

I heard i need a fuse box? Something about protection to the HU or amp or something. Is this necessary? where does it go...near battery? etc.....

I buy all my stuff from knukonceptz.com. Jim gives great customer service. I would recomment buying a 4 gage amp kit for your situation. Should come with what you need. 4meter RCAs are plenty long in the S, you'll have to coil some of it up.

Monster Cable may have a better product, but you pay a premium for it, and in a convertible it is hardly worth the extra money unless you are REALLY into your stereo.

 

Would 3meter be long enough, if running to the spare tire area? I'd rather not coil up excess wire if a shorter "stock length" would work.

 

Another nod for Knukonceptz. If you buy the kit, also buy a set of the higher end RCAs....they make a big difference (Krystal)....As for 3 meters, that is cutting it REAL close, and I wouldnt recommend it.

 

depending on your amp location you can get away with 3m, but like NFR I wouldn't recommend it. You would also have to run the 3m set along the trans tunnel instead of heading over to the door sill.
