Wiring up system... very noob question
So I read the how to wire up your system but still confused about how to do so. So far I've only wired up the alpine HU harness to the modifry harness. I need help with understanding how to wire up the speakers. I have components with x-overs and an amp.
Is this how im suppose to wire it up?
Run the RCA's from the headunit to the amp. Then speaker wires from the amp to the x-over, then wires from the x-overs to the speaker and tweeter?
That would mean I do not use the stock speaker wire/harness at all, correct?

Yes your are right, but there are 2 ways of getting from the amp to the crossovers. Run spk wire from the amp and fish them into the door which is a pain and if your not using a massive amount of power, unnecessary. Or Run the wires from the amp back up behind the headunit and cut the factory spk wire and tap into them. This way you reuse the factory run through the door.
I would rather not cut into any factory wires, so I'll probably run new wires. Wouldn't that also mean I would not need to crimp/ solder the front speaker wires from the alpine harness to the modifry harness since I will not be using the factory speaker wires?
that is correct, unless you see someone (yourself or future owner of the car) wanting to remove the amp and have the head unit power the speakers directly. then it would be nice to not have to do any extra work.
Alright John, here comes my opinion as I'm sure you've been waiting to hear.
First I'll tell you what I did on my system. I ran RCAs from my Alpine HU to my JL Amp in the spare tire area. From the amp I ran speaker wire back up to the dash, where I soldered them into the Honda adapter provided to me by Bob @ Modifry. This way I was able to use the existing wire run to the doors without and splicing into my OEM harness.
You can do this if you wind up mounting your x-overs in the doors. Then you can take the factory run in the door and use this as input to your X-over. From the x-over you run minimal wire to the woofer and tweeter.
If you mount your x-over elsewhere, you will have to run new wire into the doors yourself. This is because you will have 2 sets of wiring (woofer and tweeter) for each door and the OEM wiring only has 1 run per door.
Your choice. PM me if you need any more help

I just installed my speakers this past weekend.
Here's what I did:
I located the cross overs in the trunk and ran new speaker wires into the doors. The easiest way to get the speaker wiring into the door is the following.... remove the kick panel and s2000 labled door trim. While you have the door panel removed and the window up, look inside and you will see the open rubber groumet. With a coat hanger, make a straght snake about 18-20 inches long. From inside of the door put your newly made snake into the open wiring groumet. You will feel it hit the other end of the groumet in the car which is closed off. You will have to poke through the groumet. THe extra lenght you made your snake will come into play here... becuase the snake is long you can make it stick far into the car which makes it easy to attach your speaker wire to.
I used electical tape to connect the speaker wire to the snake. I taped about 1-1.5 inches of speaker wire to the snake. Make the tape as tight as possible and cover the front of the speaker wire, that way it is less likely to get cought up.
NEXT lubricate the speaker wire... OHH SOO IMPORTANT. I wasted time by not doing this. I grabbed some quick detailer (lol) and used it as a lubricant. It made the speaker wire go though like butter. Without the lubricant it kept getting pulled off.
Now that u have one wire through the door your ready for the next wire in the same door (because your x over is in the trunk). THis step is even easier... W/ electrical tape, tape your next speaker wire to the speaker wire you just fed throuh and pull it in.... SO EASY!
If you lubricate the speaker wire and follow what I outlined you can fish the speaker wire in minutes.
