Default installing my amp tomarrow need advice

im just doing a simple amp and sub install, door speakers are remaining factory for now until i buy another small amp and door speaker set
i will try this tomarrow afternoon i think i have the wiring diagram correct. i've just did the research and here is what i came up with
1. ground the factory HU
2. run a power wire to factory HU to the battery
3. run remote turn on wire from antenna wire to REM on the amp
4. run power wire from the + side on battery, under brake master cylinder, thru a gromet, down drivers side door sill, to the amp
5. run rca cables from HU down passenger side door sill to the amp

so here are my questions
1. where do i connect the ground and power on the factory HU?
2. which wire do i connect the remote turn on to(REM) on the factory HU? what color is it? and on what row exactly is it located?
3. where do i connect the rca cables? will there be outlets on the back of my factory HU?

First the good news:
you don't need to ground the head unit or add a power wire to it.
Now the bad news:
there are no RCA connectors on the factory headunit, so you either
need an amp that accepts speaker-level inputs, or line output converters
(LOC) which lower the speaker output to an acceptable level for the amp.
In addition, you'll want to use the rear channels of the headunit as the
source for the sub, but the '01 wiring harness does not have wires
that mate to the rear channels on the headunit, so you need an adaptor
harness like:

If you want to go real cheap on the line out converter, here you go.

Personally, I'd do a higher quality unit if you are keeping the factory HU
like this:

If you are planning to get a new HU eventually, I'd get the cheap converter and save the coin for a new HU.

i got one today which looks exacgly like this. so far i've run the power wire to the rtunk. next step is to plug in the REM and that converter thingey
so which wire do i tap the REM into on the facotry HU???
which wires do i attach the converter to???
i know the one with the black stripe is for ground on the white and grey wires, but what about the brown wires???

from http://users.rcn.com/dhintz/Michelle/Audio/audio.html
the power antenna wire is yellow/green.
but you still have the problem that the car's harness has NO
WIRES for the rear speakers, which is what you want to hook
up your sub to. You need to either buy/make an adaptor
harness, or add four wires to the car's harness connector.

Yea....but the other one was $3.00, and considering the cost of a half wa decent mp3 cd player ($140)....the cheap one represents 2% of the cost rather than 12%.

Agreed that the dollar outlay isn't much.....but if he was upgrading the HU eventually, I'd go cheap....
