Toxis, have you ever heard the Alpine SPX 177a's or the 137a's and if so, what do you think of them?

Once and for all......

Rears not amped are paper weights.

Amped rears make a big and noticible difference.

My personal opinion is that rears can add to the sound in the S2K if, you have the ability to adjust the timing controls on the head unit, amp or amp's or maybe even the crossovers themselves, then things will sound ten times better (I.E. the imaging), if that is what you are going for that is. some people just like things bloody loud, others are into the SQ perfection. Taste varies among all people, what sounds awesome to one may sound like crap to another.

I think we all have to admit that a lot of us here have a vast knowledge of "ICE" and its great we can all use it to learn more and more and to hone our skills.

Well just my .02.

ps NFRs2000 great job on the bimmer in such short time.
Did you have to use a crane to lift that gigantic amp into the car?
Awesome job.

Didn't we alread have the rears vs. no rears discussion?

I watched about five of them go by and paraphrased what seemed to be the general consensus in the FAQ. Search for "Should I get rear speakers?"

- so anyways... I finished my install today... ALPINE cda-7998, JL audio 300/4 amp, boston acoustic 6.5 pro series FRONT ONLY...
- I got too lazy to put (or try) my rears in....
- I used all spare stuff I had, unfortunantly I ONLY had 0/1awg wire for the power wire...

Having rear speakers adds that extra fill to replace the sound loss caused from all the wind noise that drowns out the fronts. So instead of stressing out the front speakers, many of us put some speakers in the back to just add that little sound to keep the ears comfortable and not having to strain to hear the music. If timing is done correctly, things sound very nice and clear.

If you get a chance, try going to a meet and hearing someone with them set up properly. But like i said before, it
