Default xm question

my 05 has the factory xm antenna and tuner. I'm thinking about upgrading the head unit and wondered if I can still use the tuner and antenna.

Antenna...most likely if you stay with XM on your after market replacement.

Tuner...doubt it...it interfaces with the stock head unit and after market will be different.

Try to get a unit with XM tuner built in. Your antenna may hook up...but it will come with a new one anyway. All you'll need to do is contact XM and transfer your service to the new ID number on your new head unit. I believe this is still no charge.

the oem xm antenna uses an old two lead style connection whereas the new head units / xm boxes use a one lead style connection and the 2/1 adaptors do not work (oem ones don't fit)

what i did was gut the oem antenna and installed one of those x/m micro antennas inside of the housing so it looked oem
