Question OEM Radio Upgrade/Addition

Evening All,

I once saw that it was possible to add bluetooth/aux connectivity to the OEM Head Unit, but for the life of me I cannot find the thing I found and forgot about.....doh!

I am looking for your expertise (as always!!) what is the best option? Is it easier to get a new head unit? (bearing in mind I wanted to keep the car stock and not mess with it too much)

Thanks in anticipation

Rob

OEM is pretty low quality sound-wise. A half decent head unit will improve the sound. Couple of decent speakers and some door skin sound deadening and it'll make a huge difference. Unless you're an absolute stickler for originality, getting new tech to work with the old head unit is just good money after bad in my opinion.

You can always kee your OEM head unit if you ever want to return it to stock. A few screws and a couple of plugs and you're done.

I'd get an aftermarket deck as well. If you want to use your OEM unit, look here.

I installed this one last Fall ... very happy with it with stock speakers. Kenwood KMM-BT522HD.

Bought from Crutchfield in US (I’m in Canada).

you'll find a replacement unit is cheap and so long as you have your code, readily reversible..

there is a harness or two which retain the dash controls, volume etc, plug and play, no cutting

depending on reqs maybe £120-150 all in for a DAB one with harness and screen twig. i fitted a pioneer dab and love it

then upgrade speakers if you want, and an amp if you need
